BLACK COCKATOO WELLBEING

SHERYL HARDY

I’ve spent more than 25 years working alongside people affected by domestic and family violence, health, mental health, palliative care and chronic and complex care.

I’ve sat with people through fear, grief, uncertainty, change and the aftermath of experiences that have altered the way they see themselves and the world. I have explored my own life and journeyed into the depths to know my Self.

All of these experiences have shaped the person and the counsellor I am today.

I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is at the heart of the work.

I am an AASW accredited Social Worker and my approach is trauma-informed, relational and person-centred. I believe that everyone, support, respect and compassion can find their own answers and healing.

I draw on psychodynamic and relational approaches, Jungian theory and parts-based perspectives. I also have an openness to spirituality and transpersonal ways of understanding human experience.

This doesn’t mean following a particular belief system.

It means that, if it feels meaningful for you, there can be room in our work for questions of meaning, intuition, dreams, symbolism, connection and the parts of life that don’t always fit neatly into words.

I welcome people of all identities, backgrounds, sexualities and relationship structures. My practice is LGBTIQ+ inclusive, and I aim to create a space where everyone feels safe.

I acknowledge the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I live and work.

I pay my respects to Elders past and present and acknowledge the continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country, culture, community and story.
